Strategic Natural Resources gets South African coal mining permit for 1.5ha site
Strategic Natural Resources Plc., set up as a vehicle to develop, own and manage natural resource extraction enterprises in South Africa, said it has received permission to start opencast mining for coal on a 1.5 hectare site in the Elitheni prospecting area.
The company said permission has been granted by the South African Department of Minerals and Energy to start opencast mining at the Phase 1 and 2 prospecting areas.
Strategic said the 1.5 hectare site is expected to yield about 50,000 tonnes of saleable coal, which will be mined and supplied later this year.
