Baker Selected to Replace Three Bridges in Southeastern Pennsylvania

Michael Baker Jr., Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE Alternext US:BKR), has been selected by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to provide a broad range of engineering services for the replacement of three structurally deficient bridges in Bucks and Montgomery Counties in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

The four-year, approximately $2.7 million contract involves the replacement of three bridges on State Routes 0213 and 1024 in the two counties. Specific services Baker will provide on the projects include bridge and roadway design, maintenance and protection of traffic, environmental documentation, cultural resources, wetland delineation, and hazardous and residual waste site assessment. Two of the bridges cross over FEMA detailed study areas, thus the hydraulic and hydrologic studies will be a critical aspect of the project. Additionally, the State Route 0213 bridge is situated adjacent to a county park, which will require special coordination.

Baker’s Eric Frary, assistant vice president, said, “We are pleased to have been selected for this challenging project. We have extensive experience with PennDOT on bridge replacement projects and welcome the opportunity to apply these skills on these structures.”
