Drilling at Khesht Oilfield to start next month

Drilling operations at Khesht Oilfield, central Iran, will be launched within a month, the managing director of North Drilling Company (NDC) said, MNA reported.

Operations will include the drilling of four wells scheduled to finish within a year, Asghar Rafie-Jam told the Mehr News Agency.

He added that the work is on the late start, offering no details.

The official continued that NDC will buy five onshore drilling rigs on rental with ownership option. He added that numerous domestic and European companies along with firms from China have participated in purchasing the rigs in the form of consortium.

He also explained that the equipment is to be used at Ahvaz, Aghajari, Gachsaran, and Bibi-Hakimeh oilfields.

Elsewhere, he noted that NDC is in talks with the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) to deliver three offshore derricks to it on rent-to-own basis. IOOC has announced its agreement, but a final deal is yet to be signed, he noted.

North Drilling Company is an affiliate to the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).
