DuPont Titanium Technologies Announces a Price Increase for Ti-Pure Titanium Dioxide Products in Latin America

DuPont Titanium Technologies today announced a price increase for all DuPont(TM) Ti-Pure® titanium dioxide grades sold in Latin America.

Effective Oct. 1, Latin American prices for all DuPont titanium dioxide grades will increase by $150 (USD) per metric ton. This increase is in addition to the price increases previously announced.

“Demand for TiO2 remains strong. Higher raw material, energy and transportation costs continue to impact our manufacturing expenditures,” said Ian Edwards, global business director — DuPont Titanium Technologies. “Energy efficiency and productivity initiatives have offset some of this impact, but this price increase is necessary for continued investment in global fulfillment, quality offerings and value to customers.”

“The velocity and volatility of cost increases will require DuPont Titanium Technologies in 2009 to eliminate contract clauses that provide a price protection period,” Edwards said. “At a time when the market for many of our purchased raw materials and services is extremely volatile, we cannot afford to further delay our ability to pass on these increases.”
