Energy Department sets hearings on coal facility

Sunday, August 6th 2006

The Department of Energy will hold meetings near the four towns competing to host the FutureGen power plant to hear public comment on the coal and carbon dioxide research facility.

Two of the proposed sites are in Texas: Jewett and Odessa. The department will hold the meeting about the Jewett site in nearby Fairfield on Aug. 22, beginning at 4 p.m., in the city of Fairfield’s Green Barn.

The meeting for the Odessa site will be in Midland, at the Center for Energy and Economic Diversification building, at 4 p.m. on Aug. 24.

Public meetings will also be held at both sites in Illinois.
