Siemens Power Generation, a unit of German electronics giant Siemens, has been awarded a 350-million-euro (439-million-dollar) contract from Scottish Power to supply wind turbines for what is to be Europe’s biggest wind farm.

Siemens said in a statement it had won a contract to supply 140 wind turbines by 2009 to the Whitelee Wind Farm to be located south of Glasgow.

Once it has been completed, Whitelee Wind Farm will have installed capacity of 322 megawatts, enough to meet the electric needs of 200,000 households, and making it Europe’s largest wind farm, the statement said.
