Independent Power Outfit Spends N46bn
Aba-Geometric Power Limited, the Aba based Independent Power Production Company, says it is spending a whopping N46.2 billion to provide Aba the commercial city of Abia State and its environs uninterrupted power supply which will come on stream in the first quarters of next year.
The Chief Executive Officer Geometric Power Limited, Prof. Bart Nnaji who disclosed this in Aba while delivering a lecture organized by “Enyimba Forum”, said the company is working round the clock to ensure that the people of Aba begin to enjoy uninterrupted power supply latest in the next 10 months.
Nnaji disclosed that even though his company would take over the distribution facilities of PHCN, they would spend over 100 million dollars to rebuild them, just as new distribution networks would also be built.
According to him, Industries in Aba would get electricity supply in brand new lines to ensure that they sustain their production capacities, while the secondary line [residential lines] would be changed into brand new ones with time. On the mode of operation, Nnaji announced that the Geometric power would be relatively cheap as they would operate based on Government rate and the users would pay what the government stipulates. He also announced that pre_paid meters would be in use to ensure that consumers actually enjoy for what they paid for.
