Indonesia: Another gold mining being opened in Timika
A U.S. mining company is now opening new gold mining in Mimika regency, Papua Province, an official said, Wednesday.
Head of Mimika Mining and Energy Agency Oktovianus Kambu said that the exploration of the new mining has reached the fourth or the final stage before the exploration could be carried out.
“In the future, Mimika regency will not only rely on gold mining carried out by PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI), which has been operating since 1968,” Oktovianus was quoted by Antara news agency as saying.
Other mining resources like coal and oil were always waiting for exploration in the regency, Oktovianus added.
