Iron ore production hits 13m tons in 9 months

Iran Minerals Production and Supply Co, produced around 13,313,084 tons of iron ore during the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March, 21, 2006), Tehran Times reported.

The figure is indicative of 120% growth compared with the same period last year.

An affiliate to Iran Minerals Production and Supply Co., Iran Central Iron stone Co., alone produced about 9,877,278 tons of the commodity. The figure posts an increase of around 108% for the Central in comparison with the corresponding period in the preceding year.

Also, the company produced some 2,978,788 tons of pelletized iron ore and 352,038 tons of iron ore concentrates during the nine-month period. Pelletized iron ore production however, registered a 112-percent growth during the period.

In the meantime, Chadormalu Mineral and Industrial Co., another associate of Iran Minerals Production and Supply Co., has produced 17,632,778 tons of iron ore and 628,858 tons of pelletized iron as well as 4,303,087 tons of iron ore concentrates, indicating 103%, 131% and 110% growth respectively.

Another member of the mineral group, Golgohar Iron Ore Complex, increased its iron stone production by 131% compared with the same period past year, hitting 249,453-ton mark.
