NIDC to purchase eight drilling rigs from China

National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) has concluded preliminary agreements with China over the purchase of eight drilling rigs from the country.

In its bid to make up for the shortages of the onshore drilling rigs, NIDC has conducted negotiations with China over the purchase of eight rigs, a report on Friday quoted the member of the NIDC board of directors as saying.

He added that four of the drilling platforms are used for repairing wells and are scheduled to be delivered to Iran within the next 18 months. The official stated that the total price of the four units amounts to $56 million.

The NIDC official also announced that the company is planning to buy two offshore drilling rigs from the country as well.
