Petroleum Companies Combining Offices

Highlands Oil Co. and Mid-State Energy Inc. are combining offices at a new location at 1130 N. Scenic Highway in Lake Wales.

The two divisions, which are owned by the same company and specialize in petroleum products, also will add three buildings to the property’s 10 acres.

It will include a 6,000-square-foot and 5,400-square-foot flex-space buildings and a 40,000-square-foot mini-warehouse storage facility.

“We wanted to combine everything under one roof,” said Ken Allen Jr., president of Mid-State Energy.

The project, handled by Ban-Aire Contractors in Largo, began in July and is scheduled for completion in March and will cost several million dollars, Allen said. “It’s going to be a substantial investment.”

The first flex space building, which is 6,000 square feet, will be divided into four, 1,500-square-foot units that will each include a 400-square-foot office and an 1,100-square-foot warehouse in the rear.

The second building, 5,400 square feet, will be divided into four, 1,350-square-foot spaces, each having a 350-square-foot office and a 1,000-square-foot warehouse.

“We are looking for business owners who need both office and warehouse space,” Allen said.

The mini-storage facility will include about 300 storage units and about half will be climate controlled.

The mini-storage facility will include security systems.

Highlands Oil and Mid-State Energy’s new offices also will include a 12,000-square-foot warehouse and a 6,000-square-foot administrative office.
