Petrovietnam Drilling plans to buy second rig-CEO
PV Drilling , the service arm of Petrovietnam, plans to purchase a second offshore rig this year to meet soaring demand from oil explorers, a senior official from the company said on Friday.
“Demand for rigs is huge in Vietnam and we will place the order for the rig later this year so it can be put into operation by 2009,” PV Drilling Chief Executive Do Van Khanh told Reuters.
The firm has already signed a two-year drilling contract worth $150 million with Singapore’s Keppel Corp. for its first jack-up rig, which was delivered last month.
