Russian-Iranian uranium enrichment joint venture still on agenda – Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin told reporters in Shanghai on Thursday that the idea of establishing the Russian-Iranian uranium enrichment joint venture was still high on the

agenda.

“Iran does not deny the benefits of such a venture, though, we did not discuss it with the Iranian president today,” Mr. Putin said. Putin believes that Iran’s stance is a real step forward. “I stated Iran’s readiness to continue negotiations, since it is our coordinated

stance,” he said.

According to the Russian president, Iran’s agreeing to the proposal of six states (the U.S., Russia, the UK, France, China, and Germany) is more than a step forward, since it involves the seventh state, namely Iran itself. “Iran said it was ready for a new round of negotations. It

is its stance. We will have to live and see,” Putin emphasized.
