Siemens to equip two winders in the Guotun coal mine in Chinaadmin
The Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group (I&S) is to equip two winders in the Guotun coal mine in China with power-supply, drive and automation technology. The customer for the order is the Shandong Luneng Group. The project is valued at around four million euros. One winder is to be put into operation in the middle of 2007 and the other one in the second half of 2008.
The Shandong Luneng Group is the leading supplier of electrical energy in Shandong province, which has approximately 93 million inhabitants. The company is involved in development of the coal mining region Jinje in the west of the province. In future, 2.4 million metric tons of coal per year is to be extracted in the Goutun mine.
Siemens is to supply and install the electrical equipment for the two shaft winding installations in the mine. The production shaft will be fitted with a synchronous motor with an output of 4.2 megawatt whereas the supply shaft will be provided with a motor output amounting to 1.3 megawatt. Medium-voltage Sinamics SM150 converters will supply the motors with power while a special winding controller will ensure safe and precision positioning of the cages. The shaft winding installations will thus be equipped with an effective and highly available drive solution, whereby operator control and monitoring will be enabled by a sophisticated visualization system. The scope of supply includes transformers, medium and low-voltage switchgear and the hydraulic brake system. Siemens is also responsible for on-site commissioning. The German company, Siemag GmbH, Netphen, is responsible for the mechanical components of the shaft winding installations.
The main reasons why the contract was awarded to Siemens were the latter\’s local presence in Jinan and the good experience remembered by Luneng from previous joint projects in the area of power transfer. As Mr. Zhao, project manager for Guotun at Shandong Luneng, put it: ”We have confidence in Siemens and look forward to working with the company for a long time in the future”.
