TAP Roadshow At Brunei Shell Petroleum

Around 300 people consisting of officers and staff of the Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) attended a Financial Planning roadshow organised by Tabung Amanah Pekerja (TAP) at the multipurpose hall of Shell Recreation Club yesterday.

The roadshow was the first to be conducted for private sector workers, and was launched by Awang Yusof bin Hj Abdul Rahman, Managing Director of TAP. Also present at, the event was the Deputy Managing Director ofBSP, Awang Hj ZainalAbidin bin Haji MdAli.

The roadshow started in March 31, 2005 to officers and staff of government departments and ministries. Then in April last year the roadshow was extended to students in technical education and higher education institutions.

It is aimed at providing explanations and realisations on the importance of financial planning especially in managing one’s own money without having to rely on other people or financial institutions It is also to support His Majesty’s titah on July 15 last year, which touched on the importance of financial planning.

The event began with a presentation on TAP’s new vision, mission and motto followed by a talk on financial planning and its importance during retirement days presented by TAP ‘ Kuala Belait Manager Awang Irwandy bin Hj Lois.

Dyg Suhaila Hj Kani from The Royal Bank of Canada presented a talk on financial planning basics while Dorothy Newn from National Insurance presented a talk on insurance as a financial planning tool.

Those present at the function also got to know more about financial planning tools and methods at an exhibition by financial institutions such as HSBC, Baiduri Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam and TAIB Takaful. – Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
