Tax break for wind, solar power?

A tax credit for alternate power generation is again being debated by the state Legislature.

A draft measure that would provide credits for developing wind, geo-thermal and solar energy was discussed at the Revenue and Taxation Committee today. The bill stalled in the last lawmaking session because income tax restructuring threatened to eliminate most tax credits.

This time around, some lawmakers want the alternate energy credit to include large commercial energy generation facilities.

“We are trying to produce as much alternative source energy as we can in the state,” said Sen. Howard Stephenson, R-Draper.
