Technip Awarded Umbilicals Contract in Norway

Technip announces that its wholly-owned subsidiary Duco Ltd. has been awarded by BP Norge AS a lumpsum EPC(1) contract, worth approximately € 20 million, for the Skarv field development. This field is located on the Norwegian continental shelf, in water depths ranging from 350 to 450 meters.

The contract covers engineering, procurement, project management services and fabrication of two dynamic umbilicals(2) (total length 1.5 kilometers), six static umbilicals (total length 23.1 kilometers) and one fiber optic cable (total length 9.1 kilometers).

The umbilical systems will be manufactured by Duco in its facility in Newcastle, United Kingdom. The project is scheduled for delivery in 2010.

The award marks a new step in the successful collaboration between Technip and BP, as well as Duco’s first major contract with BP in Norway. It follows Duco’s proven track record in the supply of umbilical systems to BP, in the UK North Sea, Gulf of Mexico, West Africa and Asia-Pacific markets.

(2) Umbilical: an assembly of hydraulic hoses which can also include electrical cables or optic fibers used to control subsea structures from a platform or a vessel.
