Victoria Petroleum Reports Additional Gas Zones Drilled At Primero-1, Reids Dome Gas Project, PL 231, Bowen Basin, Queensland

Victoria Petroleum N.L. (”Vicpet”) has been advised by the Operator, White Sands Petroleum Limited that the WSP Primero-1 well on the Reids Dome Anticline has reached the next casing point at 300 metres. The hole will be increased to 14” diameter with an under-reamer before running and cementing the 9-5/8” casing at 300 metres.

The Operator further advised that further to the gas flow of 2.8 million cubic feet per day tested last week from a zone between 135 metres and 151 metres, the well has since intersected a number of additional sandstone units below the zone tested and each of the additional sandstone units appears to be contributing to an increasing total flow rate with depth. The total thickness of gas producing sandstone units intersected thus far amounts to 26 metres compared to a zone of 11m thickness which was anticipated before drilling. On the results from the shallow testing, it appears that WSP Primero-1 is likely to be completed and suspended as a future gas production well.

Air Drilling will continue below the casing point with the distinct possibility that more gas bearing sands will be intersected between 300 metres and 500 metres in the Reids Dome beds.

The sands of the underlying Permian Cattle Creek formation will continue to be drilled down to the planned total depth of 2,700 metres. These rock units are also considered to be prospective for gas and contained oil and gas shows when last penetrated in AOE-1 drilled in 1954 near the site of WSP Primero-1.

The target Reids Dome Beds have been interpreted to have the potential to contain up to 300 billion cubic feet of gas, if gas is present.

Commenting on the drilling at Reids Dome, Victoria Petroleum NL’s Managing Director John Kopcheff said;
”The continuing increasing gas flow is encouraging and we look forward to the drilling results from the underlying target sands when we drill out of the 9-5/8” casing.”

”Vicpet believes the Reids Dome Anticline has the potential to contain a significant gas resource, subject to further drilling results.”

”Vicpet is pleased to be a participant in the drilling of Primero-1 on the Reids Dome where Vicpet has a 40% free carried interest.”

The participant’s interest in Primero-1 and PL 231 are: Victoria Petroleum: 40% White Sands Petroleum (Operator): 20%

Dome Petroleum: 40%
