West Bengal CM for clear iron ore policy

West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya today said the Centre should come out with a clear policy on iron ore and treat it as a national asset like coal.

Speaking at the agreement signing ceremony between JSW Limited and the state government, Bhattacharya regretted that the Centre was allowing iron ore export without thinking about the future of the Indian steel industry.

He also said that states possessing deposits of iron ore were also not willing to share the raw material with others.

“This is strange situation. If West Bengal says it will not give coal to others, then where does India stand?” he asked.

Bhattacharjee also said that the report of the Anwarul Huda panel set up by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in this regard was also not acceptable.
