Wind Power Project Hits Turbulence
A project to power an Ishpeming housing complex with wind energy has hit some turbulence. The Pioneer Bluff Apartments remain scheduled to have a turbine up and running this year. But the company building the components is going through a management change.
Windstore has worked on the tower and wiring, but progress has halted in recent months. Efficiency refinements are blamed for the delays. The system is a prototype and is not being funded with Ishpeming Housing Commission money.
When the turbine is complete, it’s expected to supply nearly 75 percent of the facility’s electrical needs.
