AB Resources Gears Up to Aggressively Exploit the Marcellus Shale

AB Resources LLC has taken steps to enhance the technical expertise required to explore and develop the Company’s extensive acreage position in the Marcellus Shale formation. The Marcellus Shale, a gas-productive formation spread across Pennsylvania and West Virginia, has become the premier natural gas play in the Appalachian Basin. AB Resources is poised to become a leading operator in Marcellus Shale exploration, development and production.

To implement its aggressive exploration and development program the Company has hired Mark A. Deal to serve as Director of Engineering. Mr. Deal’s addition to the professional technical staff reflects the Company’s increased focus on developing its substantial acreage in the Marcellus Shale formation in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Mr. Deal will be responsible for designing and managing all aspects of the Company’s drilling, completion and production activities. These include conventional and nonconventional horizontal and vertical drilling operations, fracture treatments, well stimulations and completion techniques. He will also coordinate the Company’s joint venture operations with industry partners.

Mr. Deal joined AB Resources in April of 2009. From 2000 to 2009 he held various management positions of increasing responsibility with Chesapeake Energy Corp. – most recently as Manager of all of its Northern District operations with headquarters in Charleston, West Virginia. From 1997 to 2000 he was employed by Sonat Exploration Company in the capacity of Manager of Engineering for that company’s Mid-Continent District.

“Mark brings a number of critically important skill sets to our Company at this stage in our growth,” said Gordon O. Yonel, CEO. “The Marcellus Shale is an unconventional resource play. It has vastly different reservoir characteristics than those found in traditional oil and gas fields. Finding and producing natural gas from that formation at a profit is the key to bottom line success. His vast knowledge and 17+ years of experience in designing and managing drilling, completion and production programs in non-conventional reservoirs, including the Marcellus Shale, will be essential to exploiting our substantial acreage position in this premier formation,” Mr. Yonel continued.
