Abu Dhabi petroleum conference to address evolving technologies for handling multiphase fluids

During 11-13 February in Abu Dhabi, petroleum managers and engineers have the opportunity to gain new insights into the rapidly evolving technologies for handling multiphase fluids in the oil and gas industry.

The event organized by PennWell, publishers of Oil & Gas Journal, includes short courses, conference presentations and exhibits that clarify the benefits gained from applying multiphase pumps and meters in both new and existing onshore and offshore operations.
Scheduled to make the opening remarks during the conference is Ismail Ramahi, Gas Processing Division Manager, Exploration & Production Directorate, ADNOC.

The two-day conference session will highlight experiences operating companies have had to date with these technologies. Presenters are from such operating companies as ADCO, Wintershall, Petrobras, Repsol-YPF, and Perenco. The sessions also will include presentations from leading manufactures describing the latest advances in these technologies and considerations required for designing appropriate installations.

Dr. Hisham Saadawi, Head of Engineering (NEB /FD), ADCO, in one of the two short course will cover various aspects of multiphase pumping technology from concept to field applications, with an emphasis on practical applications.

In the other short course, Axel Jã¤schke, Head of the research group ‘Go Subsea’ within Bornemann Pumps will describe the special requirements of mechanical seals in multiphase application for withstanding risks such as power failures and other unexpected events.
