Anadarko Petroleum 4Q profit more than doubles

HOUSTON Anadarko Petroleum today posted a fourth-quarter profit more than double that of a year ago.
The suburban Houston-based independent oil and gas producer credits proceeds from the sale of its Canadian subsidiary for boosting its earnings.

Anadarko reports it earned one-point-92 (B) billion dollars for the October-to-December period — or four dollars 13 cents per share. Revenue climbed 66 percent to three-point-18 (B) billion dollars.

The average estimate of Wall Street analysts polled by Thomson Financial was for a profit of one dollar 26 cents per share on revenue of two-point-73 (B) billion dollars.

The most recent results include a number of one-time items — including a one-point-77 (B) billion-dollar gain from the sale of Anadarko’s Canadian operations.
