Anglo American says Chris Griffith replaces Ras Myburgh as CEO of Kumba Iron Ore

Mining and natural resource group Anglo American Plc. said Chris Griffith has been appointed chief executive officer of its Kumba Iron Ore unit effective July 1, replacing Ras Myburgh.

Griffith is currently responsible for all joint ventures operations at Anglo Platinum Ltd, which is 74.8 percent owned by Anglo American.

Myburgh is taking up a secondment with Eskom, where he will advise the state-owned South African power utility on its long-term coal sourcing strategy and implementation for all of Eskom’s power stations, said Kumba in a statement.

Power shortages in South Africa have affected production at many mining companies operating in the country.
