Australia, China in clean coal talks
Australia and China have formed a joint body to investigate using clean coal technology as a way to minimise damage to the environment.
Prime Minister John Howard and his Chinese counterpart have met in the Phillipines to negotiate a free trade agreement, and to discuss the possibility of Australia increasing sales of uranium.
Another outcome of the talks has been the establishment of the Australia-China Joint Coordination Group on Clean Coal Technology.
The body will look at ways to lower greenhouse gas emissions from coal-fired power stations.
