Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. Selects Meridium to Improve and Optimize Inspection Program

Meridium Inc., the global leader in asset performance management software and consulting solutions, today announced that Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has licensed Meridium software for its Kochi and Mumbai refineries. BPCL, a Fortune 500 Company, is a leading player in the petroleum sector in India, with its core business in refining crude oil and marketing petroleum products.

Meridium was chosen, along with a leading system integrator from India, to provide a configured system that meets the key requirements and operational goals of BPCL’s inspection group. With an objective of migrating from conventional documentation and reporting and improving the efficiency and effectiveness in the management of integrity of their critical assets, BPCL turned to Meridium for an effective inspection and corrosion management system that aligned with BPCL’s business objectives as well as their inspection and monitoring plans.

According to BPCL Kochi Refinery’s executives, “We chose Meridium after an extensive search process because of their proven track record in delivering asset performance management and reliability solutions in a variety of industries. This, coupled with their exceptionally strong engineering capability and background, will provide us with the most effective management, utilization and benchmarking of our inspection activities. Our ultimate goal is to reduce equipment failures by strategically managing our risk using Meridium’s rigorous analytical capabilities to calculate the probability and criticality of failures.”

In order to meet the immediate and growing needs of their Asset Integrity program, BPCL will implement Meridium in two phases. BPCL will institute an overall comprehensive inspection management system; then, building upon the success of that initiative, the company will capitalize on the improving data with Meridium’s Risk Based Inspection solution. This approach will enable both BPCL Kochi and Mumbai Refineries to enhance the mechanical integrity and reliability of their static equipment while building and maintaining a constantly improving, comprehensive inspection data structure.

According to Bonz Hart, Meridium CEO, “We are excited to be working with a pioneer in the Indian petroleum industry such as BPCL. Their corporate commitment to the environment and to the health and safety of their employees provides a solid foundation upon which to build a meaningful, comprehensive, fully compliant inspection program, thus helping to achieve their goals of improved mechanical integrity and overall equipment reliability.”
