Chevron, USA Petroleum cancel gas station sale

November 19, 2006 Filed Under: Mining Services, Oil and Gas

Chevron U.S.A. Inc. and USA Petroleum Corp. said Friday they terminated their agreement for Chevron to purchase 122 USA Petroleum gas stations in California.

No reason was given for the decision.

Chevron U.S.A., a subsidiary of San Ramon-based Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX), had planned to operate the stations, selling either Chevron- or Texaco-branded gasoline. The majority of the stations in the deal sold USA-branded gasoline, with a small number selling Chevron- or Shell-branded gas.
