Compass Minerals’ Subsidiaries Announce Liquid Magnesium Chloride Price Increase

North American Salt Company and Sifto Canada Corp., both subsidiaries of Compass Minerals, have announced an average $4.50 per-ton price increase on liquid magnesium chloride-based products effective with all North American shipments on November 3, 2008, or as contracts allow. This 6 percent to 10 percent average price increase is being implemented to support investments needed to meet growing demand. The new list prices at the company’s Ogden, Utah, solar evaporation plant will be as follows: – Liquid DustGard: $49.50 per short ton – Liquid FreezGard: $61.50 per short ton – Liquid FreezGard CI Plus: $74.50 per short ton

– Chlorimag liquid fertilizer: $71.50 per short ton
