DOE opens bid for uranium mining leases

The U.S. Department of Energy Office of Legacy Management will open bidding for 19 parcels of land as uranium mining leases to the private sector on Friday, March 7.

These parcels, located in the Uravan Mineral Belt in southwestern Colorado, between the communities of Gateway and Egnar, will be leased for the exploration, development, and production of uranium and vanadium ores.

The web-based solicitation will open at noon MST when the link to the bidding information is activated. All information available to DOE-LM for each lease tract and instructions on submitting bids is posted at http://www.lm.doe.gov/land/sites/ulp/

Prospective bidders must be (1) U.S. citizens; (2) associations of such citizens; or (3) corporations organized under the laws of the United States or territories thereof. Persons under 21 years of age, DOE employees, and DOE”“LM contractor employees (S.M. Stoller Corporation and its teaming partners) are not eligible.
