Duffy & McGovern in Supply Deal with Sperry Drilling Systems

Duffy and McGovern is continuing its rapid growth in the Caspian region after signing a new deal with Halliburton’s Sperry Drilling Systems division, in Kazakhstan.

Duffy and McGovern Accommodation Services, which was acquired by HB Rentals in January, won the deal due to its ability to mobilize units immediately for Sperry Drilling Systems.

A pair of A60 fire-rated and DNV 2.7-1 approved engineering cabins will be used during monitoring-while-drilling operations carried out by Agip KCO staff working in the developing Kashagan field near Atyrau. The deal is worth £60,000 over an initial six-month period.

Aberdeen-headquartered Duffy and McGovern’s global reach has extended from the Alaskan North slope to south-east Asia in 2007 and its ongoing fleet build program ensures modules are available throughout the world’s oil and gas producing regions.

Production director at Duffy and McGovern, George Emslie, said: “Business is booming in the Caspian region, where our order book has continued to grow thanks to increased industry awareness of our module range and deployment capabilities.

“Our work with Metrol Technology in Baku in late 2006 was certainly part of that, and we are looking forward to seeing even greater activity in the region throughout 2007, as our fleet continues to expand.

“We have dealt directly with Sperry Drilling Systems in Kazakhstan, and delivered their modules from our manufacturing base in Aberdeen.”
