Exterran Holdings buys EMIT Water Discharge Technology for $108 million

Oil and gas industry services company Exterran Holdings Inc. has recently told the press that the company it bought EMIT Water Discharge Technology LLC for $108 million.

Based in Sheridan, Wyo., EMIT provides water management and other services to the coal bed methane industry. The company removed salts and other dissolved solids from water generated through the production of natural gas and coal.

Exterran called EMIT an “excellent addition” to its contract operations business and “highly complementary” to its existing compression, production and processing product lines.

Exterran, which was created by combining the Hanover Compressor Co. and Universal Compression Holdings, does natural gas compression and other services for oil and gas production ventures.

Shares of Exterran rose 79 cents to $57.23 in morning trading.
