Exxon plans N. Texas gas wells

Exxon Mobil Corp. plans to develop gas wells in Dallas-Fort Worth with an affiliate of the Harding Co., Harding said Monday.

Through a partnership Cinco County Barnett Shale LLC, Irving-based Exxon Mobil plans to produce and market gas from the Barnett Shale natural gas formation through an extensive, existing pipeline network.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The new venture company, DDJET Ltd. LLP, was formed Dec. 20 to develop the gas wells in the eight-county area of Tarrant, Johnson, Ellis, Dallas, Denton, Collin, Navarro and Hill counties.

Metroplex Barnett Shale LLC, a unit of Exxon Mobil, will act as the general partner and operator of the joint venture with Harding, a Dallas-based natural gas exploration and development company.

Harding Co. will be responsible for lease acquisition and permitting activities.

The new venture replaces an earlier Harding Co. and Exxon Mobil venture that successfully got permits for the first gas wells in Arlington, Grand Prairie, North Richland Hills and Midlothian, a spokeswoman for Harding Co. said Monday.
