GP Energy Provides Update on South Cedar Creek Drilling

Gold Point Energy Corp. announced that drilling operations have commenced on the third well of a five-well exploration program in the 63,500 acre South Cedar Creek Project; with production testing to commence shortly on the first two wells. The South Cedar Creek Project is located in Harding County, South Dakota.

The Spyglass-State #4-16 well located in Section 16, T19N-R4E will be drilled using Western Star Rig E-25 to a total depth of 6,300 feet and will evaluate potential oil and gas pay zones in the Cretaceous and Paleozoic. Meanwhile, production casing has been set on the first two wells in the drilling program: the Spyglass-Price #13-24R located in Section 24, T19N-R4E and the Spyglass-State #10-27 located in Section 27, T19N-R4E. Production testing of these two wells is scheduled by the Project Operator, Spyglass Cedar Creek, LP, to commence this week and will continue for several weeks.

“Shows of gas and oil were noted during drilling of the first two wells in several different zones within the Cretaceous and Paleozoic intervals. Production testing is required to assess the commerciality of these prospective pays,” Jack S. Steinhauser, President of GP Energy.

GP Energy also announced plans to commence drilling operations on a second well in its 54,600 acre North Short Pine Hills Project in Harding County, South Dakota immediately following the completion of drilling operations on the Spyglass-State #4-16 well. The North Short Pine Hills Project targets shallow gas pays in the Cretaceous including the Judith River, Shannon and Niobrara zones. An initial test to the Shannon zone at 1545 feet in the GPE-State #21-1 well located in Section 21, T18N-R2E last March proved unsuccessful. The GPE-State #32-1 well in Section 32, T19N-R2E will be drilled with the Western Star E-25 rig to an estimated total depth of 2,800 feet and will evaluate prospective pay in the Judith River, Shannon and Niobrara zones.
