Grande Portage Resources Ltd. announces drilling program underway at Pass Property

Monday, August 11th 2008

Grande Portage Resources Ltd. announce the start of its drill program at the Pass Property near Smithers, B.C.

The program commenced on August 9, 2008 and the first hole, PAS-08-01, was completed to a final depth of 63.4 metres. The hole intersected a rusty stained, pyrite-bearing quartz vein from 44.35 metres to 45.11 metres. From 45.11-48.16 is a footwall zone of quartz stringer veinlets that are sulphide bearing and the host granodiorite contains 2-4% disseminated pyrite. Hole PAS-08-02 will test the same vein system down dip. The intervals reported above are core lengths, not true widths. Sample analysis will be undertaken by ALS Chemex at their facility in North Vancouver, BC.

The Company plans to drill approximately 40-50 holes as a follow up to its 2007 program where 44 rock grab samples were collected from old trenches hosting quartz-sulphide bearing veins. All of the samples reported gold, to a high of 72.95 g/t.

Of the 44 samples collected 13 reported in excess of 5.0 g/t gold including 6 samples exceeding 20 g/t gold. Silver values were consistently anomalous with 6 samples reporting in excess of 100 g/t silver, to a high of 365 g/t silver. Copper, lead and zinc were similarly anomalous with highs of 11.13% copper, 29.0% lead and 20.14% zinc.

The Company will issue further updates during the drill program as warranted.
