Green light for more Tas mineral exploration

The Tasmanian Government has granted five new mineral exploration licences in the state’s west and north.

Sydney-based company Manasia Holdings has applied for three licences to look for gold, nickel and base metals, near Beaconsfield, at the Yolande River near Queenstown and east of Savage River.

Rubicon Mintech Ventures will explore for minerals at Hangmans creek, near Corinna, adjacent to a licence where it has found copper.

Perth-based Jaguar Minerals has applied for a licence to look for base metals, silver and gold, at Wilson River in the north-west.

The company has already found zinc, lead and silver nearby.

The Government says the three companies are expected to invest significantly more than the $100,000 required during the first two years of exploration.
