Indago starts drilling Jebel Hafit

Indago Petroleum enjoyed a bright start to the day as it announced the start of drilling on the Jebel

Hafit high impact exploration prospect, onshore Oman.

The company has spudded the Al Jariya-1 exploration well in Block 31 in which it has a 100% interest.

The well, drilling to around 5,900m, is targeting the Natih and Thamama formations which are proven producers of both gas and condensate in analogue structures, said the group.

Al Jariya-1 is targeting a mean, gas and condensate reserve base of approximately 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent and is expected to take between 125 and 160 days to drill.

In addition, Indago said it has been acquiring 2D seismic over its leads in Blocks 31 and 47 onshore Oman as part of its strategy to create further, high impact drilling opportunities.

At present, the company have shot around 100 km of new seismic, with “encouraging” results.
