Kellogg marks anniversary of Sunshine Mine tragedy
More than 300 people are expected in Kellogg Wednesday to mark a somber day in North Idaho history.
Thirty-five years ago, fire exploded deep inside the Sunshine Mine, killing 91 people.
The Miner’s Memorial Committee has invited anyone affected by that tragedy to a ceremony Wednesday morning at the memorial statue off Interstate 90.
They will read the names of every miner who died that day – and, display a miner’s hat for each one.
