New Radioactive Showings Discovered on Pacific Bay Minerals Mont-Laurier Uranium Property, Quebec

Mr. George Sanders, President, Consolidated Pacific Bay Minerals Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:CBP) is pleased to announce the discovery of new radioactive zones on its 100% owned Mont Laurier uranium property in southern Quebec. This discovery confirms the extension of favourable Precambrian metamorphic pegmatite stratigraphic horizons onto PacBay’s block of 98 claims representing a 57 square kilometre (22 square mile) area.

Company Director Ernest D. Black, P.Eng, geological consultants Exploration ESBEC, Inc. of Sept Iles, Quebec, and George Sanders, P.Geo (a Qualified Person under National Instrument 43-101 for the purposes of this News Release) participated in this field work. PacBay purchased airborne geophysical data from Nova Uranium Corporation where flight lines from a recent survey overlapped its Mont-Laurier claim block. Within this data were multiple strong eqU (equivalent uranium) anomalies which were prioritized and ground checked, leading directly to the discovery of several new, strongly radioactive zones in outcrop in the Andrew Ridge, Lac Windago, Lac du Cedre, Lac Marion North and Lac Marion South areas. The previously known Cliff showing was located and confirmed to be in the center of PacBay’s claims. In all cases during the ground checking of the airborne equivalent uranium anomalies, an outcropping white, metamorphic pegmatite in an apparent layered relationship with its surrounding rocks was found to be the source of the strong radiometric anomalies, and values well in excess of 1,000 counts per second were noted over these outcrops. Orientation geochemical samples were taken and uranium assay results are pending on these radioactive rocks.

George Sanders, M.Sc, P.Geo, President of Pacific Bay Minerals states “We are highly encouraged by the discovery of strong radioactivity on our Mont-Laurier claim block. This validates our aggressive staking program which apparently has covered a significant portion of the favourable radioactive metamorphic pegmatite horizon stratigraphy that has been shown to contain uranium mineralization. The emerging picture in the Mont-Laurier district is one of huge tonnage potential of uranium mineralized rock in the near surface and we are designing a follow up field program to further evaluate this potential on our claims.”

Pacific Bay Minerals explores for uranium and precious metals in North and South America, with major projects underway in Quebec and Argentina. To view the new map of the Mont-Laurier radioactive showings please click the following link: http://www.ccnmatthews.com/docs/CPBQuebec.pdf
