Newmont Mining Says Calarco Succeeds Murdy As Chairman

Newmont Mining Corp. (NEM) elected Vincent Calarco as non-executive chairman, effective Jan. 1.

The Denver gold company said Calarco succeeds Wayne Murdy, who will retire at the end of the year.

Newmont Mining said Calarco joined the board in 2000 and currently serves as chairman of the corporate governance and nominating committee and a member of the audit committee.

The company said Calarco is director of Consolidated Edison Inc. (ED). He previously worked as chairman, president and chief executive of Crompton Corp. from 1985 to 2004.
