Normabec Mining Resources Ltd.: Auger Drilling Completed on the Tailings and Diamond Drilling

Normabec Mining Resources Ltd., through its wholly owned Mexican subsidiary Minera Real Bonanza S.A. de C.V., announces that it has completed its auger drilling program on three tailing piles located on the Real de Catorce property, San Louis Potosi, Mexico. The company is also preparing to undertake a 6,000 meter underground diamond drilling program on the property’s most productive vein, Veta Madre.

A total of 117 holes of auger drilling has been completed for a total of 1,064 meters. The drilling covered a 25 meter by 25 meter grid with samples collected from the drill holes at one and half meter intervals. Samples have been sent to a laboratory in San Luis Potosi and results are currently pending.

Historic estimates suggest the tailing piles contain between one and a half to two million tonnes grading between 60 to 105 grams per tonne silver. This estimate made in 1990 by Restauradora de Las Minas de Catorce followed by Britannia Gold Corp. in 1996 is requiring additional sampling to confirm grade and resources. No sufficient work has been done to classify the historical estimate into mineral resources. This current auger drilling program, recommended by Micon International Limited, will enable Normabec to produce a NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate for the tailing piles.

“We are excited to have completed the auger drilling and anticipate excellent results based on the historic estimates,” stated Robert Ayotte, President of Normabec. “I am very pleased with the progress made to date. With the underground diamond drilling program scheduled and the results pending from the tailing piles, we are quickly moving this project forward.”

Preparations are underway for the underground diamond drilling program expected to commence early 2007 on the Real de Catorce property. It is estimated that 6,000 meters will be drilled during the first phase. The program will target one of the most productive veins on the property, the Veta Madre, which hosts at least 20 past producing structures. This drilling will be carried out from the 720 meter level in order to intersect the eastern extension of the Veta Madre structure, close to the Purisima ore shoot. The Purisima ore shoot was one of the main sources of silver on the Real de Catorce property.

A full rehabilitation of the existing power line and repairs to the electrical sub-station have been commissioned to connect the property to the local network. This connection will enable the company to extend the electrical power one kilometer to the underground drill area. The electrical work is expected to be completed by the end of January 2007. Additionally, the company is currently preparing the underground drill stations and the surface infrastructures to accommodate equipment and staff.
