Online data base for brown coal launched

The Minister of Energy and Resources, Peter Batchelor, says a new online service inventory Victoria’s brown coal reserves will help to attract investors to the state.

The database will allow mining companies and investors from around the world to access data on the location and quantity of coal resources. It will also identify possible sites for future explorations.

Mr. Batchelor said the inventory online is a crucial part of the government’s commitment to mining of brown coal in Victoria.

The minister made the announcement while slicing open to Yallourn coal mine in the Latrobe Valley, which was damaged by floods in November.

The minister paid tribute to TruEnergy energy company and its workers, who quickly repaired the mine so that it can operate virtually at full capacity by summer.
