About Herold’s Pacesetters Energy Conference

John S. Herold describes the Pacesetters Energy Conference as follows:

This celebration of world-class organizations — “Pacesetters” — and their strategies for success is founded on the belief that successful companies share common characteristics such as clarity of vision, pursuit of competitive advantage, and leadership. The two and a half day conference is held in Old Greenwich, Connecticut and features 15 panel presentations focusing on a variety of relevant topics and issues challenging the petroleum industry. Presentations are hard-hitting and concise, punctuated by lively follow up Q&A sessions.

Herold defines a Pacesetter company as one that possesses certain key characteristics:

* Demonstrated superior market returns to its shareholders * Strong management with clear strategy and focus * A successful track record with low-cost operations

* Reputation for excellence

Unlike most oil industry symposia, the Herold conference avoids the promotional “dog and pony” show. Herold’s panel selections focus on themes and challenges of significance to both investors and oil executives. Senior executives present the distinctive competencies of their organizations and focus on the milestones and explicit goals employed to gauge progress — “economic value creation.”
