Rig Count Rises
The number of rigs actively exploring for oil and natural gas in the U.S. last week rose by nine from last week to 1,886.
Of the rigs running nationwide, 1,493 were exploring for natural gas and 385 for oil, according to Baker Hughes Inc., which tracks rig activity worldwide. Eight were listed as miscellaneous.
A year ago, the rig count stood at 1,760.
