Rocmec to Commence Thermal Fragmentation Mining at Fresnillos Cienega Mine in Mexico

Tuesday, August 18th 2009

Rocmec Mining Inc. provide an update on its thermal fragmentation mining contract with Fresnillo plc for the Cienega mine. The Cienega mine is located in the northwest corner of the State of Durango, approximately 325 kilometres from Durango, the capital of the State.

The thermal fragmentation unit has arrived on site and Rocmec’s employees are prepared to commence fragmenting the first set of pilot holes previously drilled by the company.

The Cienega mine is very suitable for the thermal fragmentation mining method considering the numerous narrow veins located within the mine.

Management would like to thank Fresnillo Plc for its interest towards Rocmec’s mining method and for the high quality of work conducted in order to prepare the stopes that are currently available at the mine.

For the client, the advantages of employing Rocmec’s thermal fragmentation mining process are numerous: significant reduction in mining waste rock, enhances operational safety, improved productivity and reduction in mucking, transportation, milling and backfill costs.

This in Rocmec’s second operating contract since July 2009 which bodes quite well for the company’s financial results over the coming quarters.

Management would also like to inform its shareholders that the company has initiated discussions with several small, mid and large cap mining companies that have demonstrated a definite interest in incorporating Rocmec’s thermal fragmentation mining method with their conventional mining methods.
