Russia ups coal exports 14.7% in 11 mths

Russia increased bituminous coal exports 14.7% year-on-year in January-November 2006 to 82.562 million tonnes, the Federal Customs Service said.

Exports in value rose to $3.915 billion from $3.416 billion.

Exports to non-CIS countries rose 15.6% to 74.752 million tonnes and exports to the CIS were up 6.4% to 7.81 million tonnes.

In value terms, exports to the non-CIS grew to $3.458 billion from $2.929 billion, while exports to the CIS fell to $457 million from $487 million.

Russian coal imports grew 14.5% year-on-year in the 11 months to 23.225 million tonnes. Russia imported nearly all of this coal – 23.191 million tonnes – from the CIS. The imports in value grew to $350 million from $345 million.
