UK Coals Daw Mill suffers new fatality
Coal miner UK Coal will have production restricted at its Daw Mill mine for about four weeks following a fatal accident last week caused by a fall of ground.
In a statement, UK Coal said that the Health and Safety Executive has issued an order which calls for a systematic review of ground control requirements in an area of the mine associated with the current production phase.
UK Coal adheres to the highest standards of safety and deeply regrets the fatal accident, its statement said.
This latest fatality follows the deaths at Daw Mill of two employees in July and August last year following accidents at the mine.
