Volta Resources Announces Further Drilling Results From its Gaoua Copper-Gold Project in Burkina Faso

Volta Resources Inc. report assay results from twelve out of 15 holes drilled on the Dienemera target located on the Malba permit at Gaoua. The drilling is part of the 39-hole, 11,306 meter diamond drilling program recently completed at Volta’s Gaoua copper-gold porphyry project in southern Burkina Faso, West Africa where results continue to confirm copper-gold mineralization extensions. This drill program at Gaoua is aimed at extending the mineralization identified in 2007 at the Gongondy and Dienemera copper-gold porphyry target areas . Results from 19 holes drilled on the Gongondy target, approximately 7 kilometres south of Dienemera, were reported on October 30, 2008 and confirmed highly anomalous copper-gold mineralization extensions further down-dip to the west.

At Dienemera, fifteen holes, ranging between 219 and 453 metres in length, were completed for a total of 4,760.5 metres. The twelve holes now received have passed the Company’s strict QA/QC protocols. These results confirm that the highly anomalous copper-gold mineralization extends both to the north and further down-dip to the west. The mineralization remains open in both directions.

Significant copper and gold mineralized intersections on the northern and down-dip extensions include: S83IE (55m (at) 0.72%Cu and 0.21g/t Au); S84DIE (69m (at) 0.59% Cu and 0.21g/t Au); S86DIE (39m (at) 0.96%Cu and 0.39g/t Au) and S87DIE (37m (at) 0.41%Cu and 0.12g/t Au). Hole S93DIE, drilled in an area covered largely by historical holes, confirmed the presence of a long mineralized interval (83m (at) 0.43% Cu and 0.24g/t Au). The highly anomalous copper and gold mineralization is hosted by hydrothermally brecciated diorites.

The drilling undertaken during this campaign has allowed the company to extend the mineralization further to the north (holes S90DIE and S91DIE) and down-dip to the west (S83DIE, S84DIE, S85DIE and S87DIE) (see figure 1). To-date, Cu-Au mineralization has been outlined over an area extending along strike for more than 700 metres from hole S66DIE (drilled in 2007) in the south to hole S90DIE in the north, and in width over nearly 850 metres from hole S83DIE in the west to S72 (drilled in 2007) in the east (see figure 1). The mineralization remains open both towards the north as towards the west.

The drilling has also identified two parallel relatively higher grade Cu-Au mineralization trends which strike NNW-SSE within a broader N-S striking halo of lower grade mineralization. Hole S79DIE drilled about 100 metres south of S66DIE did not intersect a wide mineralized interval, however on-going modeling suggests that the mineralization might occur west of S79DIE, where no drilling has been carried out so far.

Over 10,500 metres of drilling have now been completed by Volta on the Dienemera target, respectively 876m of RC drilling in 2004, 4,943 metres of core drilling in 2007 and 4,760 metres of core drilling during this campaign. The results from this drilling, along with some historical results (2,793 metres of core drilled in the 1980s), currently being validated, will be incorporated into an initial NI 43-101 resource estimate planned for the Dienemera and Gongondy prospects to be completed before the end of the first quarter of 2009.

Volta is a mineral exploration company primarily focused on becoming the leader in the identification, acquisition and exploration of gold properties in West Africa. The Company is committed to West African exploration and is Canadian-based with its head office in Toronto, Ontario and operations offices in Accra, Ghana and Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
