Western demand of uranium moratorium illegal †Ahmadinejad

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has described as illegal the Western demand of a moratorium on the Iranian uranium enrichment research.

”The demand of Western countries that Iran must announce a moratorium on uranium enrichment research even for a short period is illegal. If they manage to thrust this illegal and illogical demand on us, they will make new claims to Iran,” Iranian news agencies quoted from the president on Sunday.

”They will use their propaganda capacities to show the world that Iran has finally capitulated,” Ahmadinejad said.

The threats of enemies will not influence the will of the Iranian people for the development of peaceful nuclear technologies, he said.

”˜”Iran acted in conformity with international laws in the nuclear program situation,” he said. ”Pressure and threats concerning peaceful atomic energy activities of our country will not influence the will of the Iranian people. The Iranian nation will never fear sanctions, but will continue following its path with dignity.”

At the same time, the president reaffirmed that Tehran is adherent to the negotiations settling differences around its nuclear program.

The UN Security Council has turned into a tool of Western nations, Ahmadinejad said.

”The firmness shown by Iran as regards the policy of force, some countries were implementing, bore down their assuredness,” he said.

He thinks that the UN resolution concerning the Iranian nuclear program ”has no legal grounds.”

”Some Western nations have turned the Security Council into a tool of their policy of world dominance. By issuing resolutions against countries, which disagree with their position, they are using the UN Security Council for the intimidation of such states,” he said.
