BP acquires another wind company

BP Alternative Energy announced the acquisition of Orion Energy, LLC., increasing its renewable capacity and position in the wind industry.

With the newly acquired generating capacity, the BP subsidiary based in Texas will increase its North American wind portfolio and gain the opportunity to develop almost 100 projects with a total potential generating capacity of about 15,000 megawatts.

We chose BP because of the company’s long-standing commitment to find practical solutions to climate change, its financial strength and proven ability to develop long-term energy projects.Orion Energy currently has more than 30 projects in development with a potential capacity of more than 6,000 megawatts. They have already developed approximately 1,300 megawatts of wind projects.

Earlier this year BP announced another partnership with the California-based Clipper Windpower, to supply up to 4,250 megawatts of wind turbines over the next five years.
