Pomeroy announces proposal to extend wind energy tax credit WEST Fargo, N.D. (AP) Congressman Earl Pomeroy says he’s introducing legislation to extend the production tax credit for wind and other renewable energy projects until 2014.
Pomeroy says the wind energy industry has been disrupted when the tax credit expired three times since 1999. He’d like to see it made permanent.
Pomeroy made his announcement today at D-M-I Industries in West Fargo, which makes wind towers.
Congress has extended the tax credit through December 31st, 2008. The tax credit provides 1.9 cents per kilowatt hour for electricity generated during the first 10 years of a wind turbine’s
operation.
